Emotional development

Counselling supports emotional development by helping children understand, express, and regulate their emotions in a healthy way. Through guided conversations and activities, children learn to identify their feelings, develop coping strategies, and build emotional intelligence. This foundation equips them with the skills to navigate relationships, handle challenges, and develop a strong sense of self-awareness

and confidence.

Play Therapy

Play therapy provides a safe and supportive space for children to express their thoughts and emotions through play, which is their natural form of communication. Through guided activities, storytelling, and creative expression, children can work through difficult emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and build resilience. Play therapy helps children process experiences they may not yet have the words to describe, making it an effective approach for addressing emotional challenges, behavioral difficulties, and social struggles.

Child Counseling

Behavioural Support

Behavioural support helps children develop positive behaviours, self-regulation skills, and effective coping strategies to navigate challenges in their daily lives. Through counselling, children learn to understand the reasons behind their actions, manage emotions, and adopt healthier ways of responding to different situations. By providing guidance, structure, and reinforcement, behavioural support empowers children to build confidence, improve social interactions, and develop problem-solving skills that contribute to their overall well-being.

Trauma

For children who have experienced trauma, counselling provides a safe and healing space to process their experiences and rebuild a sense of security. Trauma-focused approaches help children express their feelings, develop coping mechanisms, and reduce the emotional impact of distressing events. By working with a trained professional, children can regain confidence, improve emotional regulation, and move forward with resilience and hope.

Moral development

Counselling plays a crucial role in moral development by guiding children in understanding values, empathy, and ethical decision-making. By exploring real-life situations and discussing right and wrong in a supportive environment, children learn to develop a sense of responsibility. Additionally, your child's faith journey is nurtured and deepened throughout the counselling process. As a counsellor with a Master's degree in Theology, I prioritize fostering your child's relationship with the Lord and support their exploration of meaning, purpose, and identity.

Adult Counselling

Whether it's managing stress, dealing with grief, or overcoming relationship difficulties, my approach provides a safe and compassionate space for adults to explore their emotions and work toward personal growth. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of the individual, helping them develop coping strategies, gain self-awareness, and find healing. My goal is to empower adults to live fulfilling, balanced lives,

just as I do for children.

Benefits of Counselling

Why Counselling Matters: The Long-Term Impact

Research from the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study shows that unresolved childhood trauma can lead to

long-term emotional, behavioral, and even physical health challenges in adulthood. However, early intervention can make

a significant difference. When children are given the right tools and support to process their experiences in a safe and nurturing environment, they develop resilience, emotional regulation, and healthy coping strategies that benefit them for life.

Early Intervention

Addressing emotional struggles early prevents them from becoming deep-seated issues in adulthood. Through counselling, children learn to identify and process their emotions in healthy ways, reducing the risk of anxiety, depression, and behavioral difficulties later in life.

Play Itself is Therapy

For children, play isn’t just fun—it’s how they communicate, process experiences, and make sense of the world. Play therapy allows them to work through emotions, fears, and conflicts in a natural, comfortable way, making healing feel intuitive rather than forced.

A Safe Space for Expression

Children often struggle to put their emotions into words. Counselling provides a non-judgmental, supportive environment where they can express their thoughts and feelings freely—whether through words, play, or creative activities—without fear of criticism or misunderstanding.

Building Resilience for Life

Counselling equips children with the emotional tools they need to face challenges with confidence. By developing problem-solving skills, self-awareness, and emotional regulation, they learn how to navigate difficulties both now and in the future, fostering long-term well-being and inner strength.

Success Stories

Our clients believe that Ulrike Biewenga Children's Counselling has

positively impacted their children's lives. They appreciate the professional

and caring approach, along with the effective strategies and support provided.

11-year-old girl

(the tragic loss of a loved one)

After just one session with Ulrike, my 11-year-old daughter began to feel better and more capable of coping with her challenges. She looked forward to each session and, by the end of the year, was thriving academically. Ulrike has been a safety net, and her support has made an incredible difference in my daughter's life.

8-year-old-boy

(challenges with regulating anger)

After each session, I received positive feedback and knew that we were moving in the right direction. Today, I want to say thank you for what she has meant in my child’s life and for her understanding of the great impact she has had on our journey with our son. I can recommend her to anyone who needs help, and I want to let people know that it is never too late to seek help for our children.

5-year-old girl

(Behavioural challenges)

In just a few months with Ulrike, my 5-year-old daughter made incredible progress. She learned to play alone, accept the word 'no,' and calm herself without being mollycoddled. She always looked forward to seeing Ulrike and called her a friend. Ulrike is patient, kind, firm with boundaries, and highly recommended.
